Join Our Team: Legal Secretary

Langley, Parks & Soto, LLC is seeking a full-time Legal Secretary to join our law firm. We are looking for an organized, dependable professional who enjoys helping clients, and takes pride in producing high-quality work.

Position Overview

The Legal Secretary serves as the first point of contact for many of our clients and provides administrative and legal support to our attorneys. This position requires excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, discretion, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a positive attitude.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome clients and visitors in a professional and courteous manner.

  • Answer and direct incoming phone calls.

  • Schedule client consultations, hearings, depositions, mediations, and other appointments.

  • Maintain attorney calendars and monitor important deadlines.

  • Draft, proofread, and format legal correspondence, pleadings, contracts, wills, and other legal documents.

  • Electronically file pleadings and documents with Louisiana state and federal courts.

  • Open and maintain client files, both electronically and in paper format as needed.

  • Assist with new client intake and conflict checks.

  • Communicate with clients regarding appointments, requested documents, and attorney instructions.

  • Request, organize, and summarize records and supporting documentation.

  • Assist with billing, time entry, and general office administration.

  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding client information.

  • Support attorneys and staff with additional administrative and legal tasks as needed.

Qualifications

  • Prior legal secretary or legal administrative experience preferred but not required.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Strong typing and proofreading abilities.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently under deadlines.

  • Professional appearance and demeanor.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and general office technology.

  • Experience with electronic court filing systems is preferred.

  • Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment.
